21st Sept - Colca Canyon Day 2

Left at 5.10am, 2hrs 45mins of hard uphill trekking. Tough work but well worth it when we got to the top. Great views and sense of achievement!

An hour into the walk - sun just coming into the canyon. Nice.

Finally at the top!

Had breakfast, then got the bus back to cusco, long drive but broken up by visits to couple of local towns

We also had a trip to some natural hot springs. These are always a winner! 6 pools, all between 38 and 39 degrees! Very enjoyable hour there. Back to Cusco and left my trekking shoes/my only shoes in South America on the bus, luckily I thought of them within 5 mins and more luckily the driver was making a phone call so hadn't left yet! Very lucky! I decided to change hostels as I reckon I was the only guest in hostel nuñez where I stayed before! New place had wifi. Result!

Was shattered, so went to the restaurant downstairs from the hostel. And this place (Mexican) came highly recommended by Lonely Planet. Nice one! It was disgusting, I never have any lucky with Mexican restaurants!

I did get to watch this live though - the guy who committed this foul was given a yellow card with the ref standing just 2 feet away!

Tomorrow was to be a relaxing day, then catch the luxury overnight bus to Cusco with the sound Irish girls who were back from their trek to Colca! All good...
