So after the iphone excitement the night before we were up at the crack of f-ing dawn to get the punishment bus to Cusco. It was leaving at 7.30 (we hoped) and we'd to be there early obviously. Was like trying to herd cats getting everyone together. But we got to the station, we got seats, all good. We'd have to change in some small town and walk through the strike zone but so be it I suppose. Bus was filthy obviously, we left only 20 mins late though. Around 2pm this local woman got on. She was selling hot meat! She had just roasted an entire alpaca and brought it on board with her! She also had a massive cleaver and was smashing it to bits, then doling it out in little plastic bags. Very weird!
Lad in front of me had music blaring on his mobile. Good news - it was all Enrique Iglesias! And all in Spanish! Fantastic, I love a bit of Enrique. Don't turn off the light, Hero, but no Escape sadly. Anyway, we reached the town with the blockade and the strike had been lifted! They were cleaning the streets as we drove past. So we stayed on our bus all the way to Cusco. Result!
Everyone (Aussie lads, Irish girls) was already booked in to Loki hostel so I joined in there too. Seemed grand and my room had wifi so all good.
Went to pub to suss out the craic. I was wrecked tired so went back to the room around 9 for a power nap. Didn't get up until 10 Sat morning! Shattered!
